Feeling Good in 2014

 Hi ,

A new year is almost upon us.  I don't know about the rest of you, but for me the last year and a half has been a lot of work.  I am feeling the desire for a gentler, easier paced life for a while.  I think a focus on feeling good is in order for this coming new year.

Feeling good seems like a simple request, but it involves making different choices - choices that are outside my self-defined way of participating with life.  It requires me to adopt different values as my actions and choices flow from my values.  What values do I need to promote a life of feeling good?

The first step for me is to clarify what feeling good is, and what I have been chasing instead.  Most of us are always pursuing feeling okay.  Okay is different than feeling good.  Okay is more of a safety/survival pursuit, both in the present and in the future.  Getting my new office up and running falls into that category.  We are always running around striving for more in order to create future security.  This running around does not usually feel good.

Often times people confuse the excitement of success with feeling good.  Excitement by its nature is very transitory.  The quick rush of feeling higher than a kite is fairly quickly followed by a crash as the high can not be sustained.  The feeling good I am talking about is sustainable.  It is that balanced state of connection and presence that simply feels good most of the time.

When I talk to people about health, what I am really saying is "What do you have to do to feel good in your body most of the time?"  Aches and pains don't feel good.  Poor balance that makes you afraid to move freely does not feel good.  Having no energy does not feel good.  The list of possible symptoms goes on forever.  Feeling good is about not having a list of symptoms.  More than that, feeling good is about feeling the confidence in your body to do what you want to do without fearing that your body will fall apart on you.

This is where the desire to feel good meets a roadblock.  Having a body that feels good most of the time requires constant maintenance.  Our bodies are a thousand times more complex than high performance race cars and like race cars; we need a lot of loving upkeep.  We have to use top quality fuel to keep our energy production in top shape.  We have to workout our muscles and joints to maintain flexibility and strength.  Balance and posture are essential to reduce the stress of gravity on our frame.  Our nervous system needs constant stimulus and training to keep it in top running order.  This is all necessary to produce the balance and energy presence to feel good.

For some people this maintenance comes naturally.  What that really means is that they already have the values in place that put caring for themselves on top of their priority list.  They actually enjoy seeking out the best quality foods and working their minds and bodies in order to keep everything in good working condition.  Getting that next newsletter written, that report done, that project finished takes second place to caring for themselves.  Taking on that kind of value-set will be a challenge for me.  But if I don't care for myself first, I end up having nothing left for anyone else.  Self-care generates the energy to do more in life without the stress.

Too often we simply want to not feel so bad.  We mistakenly confuse using something to block our bad feelings with actually feeling good.  Feeling less bad becomes our goal because we are not willing to let go of whatever we are holding on to that is making us feel so bad.  We want things our way and when life refuses to cooperate with us, we feel bad.  Rather than let go of having to have things our way, we hold on and find something that blocks our ability to feel the pain so we can keep holding on.  I believe this is one of the biggest reasons we do not feel good.  We are too busy holding on to wanting things we can't have to be able to relax enough to ever feel good.

Being relaxed is a core piece of feeling good.  Going with the flow is an essential skill for feeling good.  The ability to chart your course and to manifest your truth, while moving with the flow is also a key to feeling good.  Fighting the flow might be exciting, but it definitely does not feel good.

So what does it take to feel good? My list so far includes sustaining a healthy life-style so that I will have a clear brain and healthy body that feels great.  It also includes an easeful relationship with life that also gives me room to be me, while letting everyone else be themselves.  My focus today is on developing the values of self-care and relaxation instead of the constant striving for more.  Nothing outside myself can make me happy, so more stuff is not the answer.  Outside me is a place for me to express my truths and get feedback that keeps me centered in the flow.

Feeling good is about relationships.  It is the balance between my relationships with myself, my loved ones, and my relationship with the rest of life.  Feeling good about myself is not that hard once I let go of my self-demand for more in life.  We beat ourselves up when we think we should be more in some way instead of just appreciating ourselves as we are and expanding when we are attracted to do so.  That way growth becomes a joyful exploration instead of a tedious chore.

Who wants to join me on this exploration of feeling good for 2014?

Take care,

David

New Products in the office!
Organic Cacao Butter Chips
So you can make the yummy chocolate pie in today's article I have gotten into my private stash of organic cacao butter to make it available to you in small quantities - just enough to make 2 pies... only $7.  Cacao butter is also the base I use when I make sugar free chocolate candy - as highlighted in previous newsletters.

Super Blend Sugar - Half the calories and none of the toxic fructose.
Many of you have asked for a sugar replacement that can be used exactly like sugar - well here it is!  Normal sugar is dextrose combined with fructose.  We now know that it is the fructose that causes the metabolic syndrome damage to your body, so I invented a sugar that is half dextrose and half erythritol - completely eliminating the toxic fructose.  I put in just enough stevia extract to balance the sweetness to equal regular sugar.  So here you go, the closest thing to healthy white sugar that actually acts like sugar - and it only has half the calories to boot!  Only $10.95 for 4 cups - 26 ounces.

Healthy diet costs $1.50 more per day

New research by the Harvard School of Public Health has shown that the cost of eating a very healthy diet (one filled with fresh vegetables, fish, nuts, and fruit) only costs $1.50 more per day than the cost of eating the least healthy diet (filled with processed foods, meats, and refined grains.)  So for half the cost of your drive thru coffee in the morning you could be doing the most important thing for your health and well being - eating real fresh healthy foods.

Dump your antibacterial soaps

After more than 40 years of study, the U.S. government says it has found no evidence that common anti-bacterial soaps prevent the spread of germs.  Even more important the chemicals used to supposedly fight bacteria like triclosan are known to disrupt your hormones as well as breed resistant bacteria.  So it is time to dump your antibacterial soaps and detergents.

Memories pass between generations

Here is a mind blower.  Traumatic events have been shown to alter our DNA and can get passed down to later generations as aversions to various stimuli.  Essentially your phobias and fears can be passed down to your grandkids without them ever having any personal reason to be afraid of those things.

Our address is  9725 Fair Oaks Blvd.
Finding the new location is very easy.  Coming from highway 50 up Sunrise Blvd, you turn left and go up a block.  We are on the right hand side - the building just past the Subway Sandwich shop.  If you are coming down Sunrise from the Mall area then just turn right on Fair Oaks Blvd and up a block on the right.

If you are coming from the Roseville area you could come down Sunrise Blvd, but that is a long trek.  It is probably shorter time wise to come down Auburn Blvd - San Juan Ave like you have been for the Sunset office, but instead of turning left at Sunset, keep going straight 3 more lights to Fair Oaks Blvd and turn left.  Go down 2 lights to New York Ave, go through the intersection, and immediately turn into the turn lane once the center divider ends.  We are on the left.
