  Miracle Moringa

 Hi ,

I am always on the lookout for natural products that will improve the health of my patients and myself.  This time I have come across a doozy - Moringa leaf powder.

This miracle tree was brought to my awareness from two different directions at once.  Someone in the spiritual discussion group I go to on Monday nights brought some Moringa seeds for all of us to plant along with information about an international organization called Trees for Life working to end starvation in the world.  It seems that Moringa leaves are about the most nutritious plant food source there is.  Then a couple days later one of my patients brought me a sample of dried Moringa leaf powder to try in my morning smoothie.  Not only did I feel an immediate lift from the leaf in my smoothie, but also it actually tasted quite refreshing.  Usually I hate the taste of "green drinks."

I started doing some Internet research on Moringa trees and found they are really quite amazing.

Although basically unknown in the Western world, Moringa is cultivated over much of the world as a food source and for its medicinal properties.  Originating in India where it has been used for thousands of years, it now is grown throughout southern Asia, continental Africa, and South America.  Here is a link to the Wikipedia article on Moringa. Wiki Moringa

Lets hit some of the highlights of this tree.  Literally all parts of this tree can be used as food - the leaves (the most nutritious part), seeds (for cooking and cosmetic oil), seed pods, bark, and roots.  The tree is called the drumstick tree in some areas because of the shape of the edible seedpods.

The leaves are incredibly high in protein for a plant with the fresh leaves showing as much as 9.5 % protein (which is a lot since fresh leaves are mostly water).  So when the leaves are dried into a powder you have a powerful protein source.  This is why organizations are looking to cultivate Moringa to stop starvation, as protein malnutrition is the biggest problem in third world countries.

The tree grows rapidly and is drought resistant so it is ideal for tropical climates...which is also where most world hunger is a problem.  Here is a short Discovery Channel segment on Moringa's benefits and its use in fighting world hunger.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cqwk9KFLTI0

One report I read said Moringa had over 250 phytonutrients of which 46 were antioxidants.  It has much higher antioxidant power than blueberries, a favorite anti-oxidant food.  As you recall the antioxidants fight aging, inflammation, and various diseases.  It has 3 well-researched anti-inflammatory chemicals that directly help with pain and swelling in joints and tissues, caffeoylquinic acid, kaempherol and quercetin, as well as many other inflammation compounds like carotenoids, flavonoids and polyphenols.

Moringa is a powerful source of vitamin B6, provitamin A, Potassium, Iron, Magnesium, and Calcium.  It has potent antibiotic, antifungal, and antiviral properties to support you body as it fights off bacteria in wounds, viral infections, and fungal attacks in your gut.  Moringa stimulates liver detoxification and helps your body rid itself of unwanted metals.  In fact my patient Hyla warns us to start slowly with Moringa powder as the detoxification power can cause us to dump toxins too fast out the colon if we use too much at first.  I suggest starting with just a teaspoon of Moringa in water, juice, or breakfast smoothie to begin.

The list of medicinal properties for Moringa just goes on and on.  But the biggest reason people use Moringa is that it gives them energy.  Dr Oz talked about the benefit of energy boosting from Moringa in one of his shows. Dr Oz

So Moringa is set to become the "next big thing" in the natural medicine health field.  Lots of websites are popping up selling Moringa leaf powder.  I checked out quite a few when I first found out about how good Moringa is.  The going rate for Moringa powder seems to be $25 -$30 per 8 ounces of powder.

Being really impressed with Moringa I decided to go all out an see just how good a price I could get.  I contacted a top producer of organic Moringa leaf products in India to see if I could get some Moringa powder wholesale.  Generally this means buying by the ton, but this producer let me try a trial purchase of only 10 kilos (22 pounds).  This was my first venture into international importing.  I had no idea how expensive the shipping, import fees, and about half a dozen other fees associated with importing would be.  This significantly raised the price of the final product, but I was still able to get the certified organic Moringa leaf powder to be able to pass on to you for less than half the price it is being sold for on the internet.

I now have a limited quantity of high quality organic Moringa leaf powder in the office for only $29.95 for over a pound - 17.6 ounces (500mg).  This should last you 3 to 6 months!  As a comparison, this much Moringa in capsule form costs $83 from the least expensive source I could find.  These are sealed metallic airtight and light tight pouches designed to keep the Moringa really fresh.  I only have 18 pouches available as I am keeping a few for my own use, so if you want to do something really good for your body, grab some while it is available.

We have moved
.
Our new address is at 9725 Fair Oaks Blvd.

If you are coming from the Roseville area you could come down Sunrise Blvd, but that is a long trek.  It is probably shorter timewise to come down Auburn Blvd - San Juan Ave like you have been for the Sunset office, but instead of turning left at Sunset, keep going straight 3 more lights to Fair Oaks Blvd and turn left.  Go down 2 lights to New York Ave, go through the intersection, and immediately turn into the turn lane once the center divider ends.  We are on the left.

We are looking forward to seeing all of you at our new location.

And Thanks again to all the wonderful folks that came and helped us move!

Take care,

David

New Exercise Program
Patients are reporting great results with the new back strengthening program I wrote about in the March 18th newsletter.  I highly recommend this program for everyone as we all need stronger backs to counter the effects of too much sitting.  If you missed this information here is a link to that newsletter.

On the Wire

When you lie, your nose temperature raises

Thermography is the mapping of temperature variations on the surface of the body.  It was first developed by a Chiropractor back in 1924 as a temperature sensing tool pressed along the spine to detect spinal subluxations.  Modern thermography works like a camera and is useful in detecting the early stages of breast cancer formation.  Now some really fun research is being done on how brain region activation produces differing and unique skin temperature changes like the finding that the temperature around your nose increases when you tell a lie.  Many feeling states can now be measured with thermography.

  Human Ecosystem

A tremendous amount of our health and possibly even our behavior is controlled by the trillions of bacteria that live on and in our bodies.  The right bacteria protect us and the wrong ones do the opposite.  We all carry hundreds of different bacteria and researchers say that the exact ones we carry is like a fingerprint - no two of us have exactly the same bacteria.  Even the bacteria on our right hand is different from the bacteria on our left hand.  New study projects are being formed to study this amazing relationship we have with bacteria through citizens like us signing up and having our bacteria analyzed along with our health to see if patterns and trends relating to specific bacteria can be found that will help us build healthier bodies by inviting certain bacteria to share our lives with us.

Gravity Light

This is an absolutely brilliant idea.  Most of the rural areas in third world countries depend on kerosene lanterns for light.  This is expensive and dangerous.  Various projects have started to try to replace the kerosene lanterns with solar powered lighting units.  Between the solar cells, batteries, and light units this is fairly expensive.  Now  radically new idea has been developed - using the power of gravity.  Just like old grandfather clocks that ran on weights and chains, this light will run for a half hour simply by lifting a small bag of dirt or rocks.
