We're Moving!

 Hi ,

After five months of working to get the remodeling permits we needed, were are finally getting the work done on the new office.  At this point the sheet rock is in, taped, and textured.  The rough electrical work is finished but the light fixtures and outlets still need to be put in.

Last weekend  I had to pause my work on the front desk and repair the plumbing to the toilet then rip out the old tile in the bathrooms and lay down new tile.  Everything seems to take longer than I anticipate, so each day I was ending up finishing my work holding a flashlight in my teeth while working as it got dark (no light fixtures yet).  I have not actually seen the finished floor in the light yet as I covered it up in the dark with construction paper so the plaster from the sheet rock work would no make a mess of everything.

Last night I was out in the parking lot until 8 pm blowing and sweeping the lot clean in preparation for the asphalt guys coming  today (Thursday).  They are spreading that black sticky stuff as I write.  I got the news this morning that I would have to cough up an extra grand to raise the handicap parking space 2 degrees on the left due to a slope I couldn't see or feel.  But I recalled the county planning guy saying that they would be checking for exactly that - no more than a 1 to 2 degree slope anywhere in the handicap area.
I will be painting this weekend and then Susie's husband Phil will be putting in the flooring since conveniently he is a flooring contractor.  Several patients that have used him all are quite pleased with his work.  If you need any flooring work done give him a call at 916-600-6889.

While the flooring is being installed, the electrical fixtures will be put in place and the parking lot will be seal coated and striped.  That should all be done this week, allowing us to move in this coming weekend.

We actually want to get Ellen all moved in by this coming Wednesday as she will be having another gallbladder stint replacement this Thursday.  It takes her a while to recover from these procedures so we would like to get her set up before she has to go in for the replacement.  This is the hallway to her room.
Everything should be chaos come Monday morning, but hopefully we will have phones and an adjusting table in place so we can at least get the healing work done.

Finding the new location is very easy.  Coming from highway 50 up Sunrise Blvd, you turn left and go up a block.  We are on the right hand side - the building just past the Subway Sandwich shop.  If you are coming down Sunrise from the Mall area then just turn right on Fair Oaks Blvd and up a block on the right.

If you are coming from the Roseville area you could come down Sunrise Blvd, but that is a long trek.  It is probably shorter timewise to come down Auburn Blvd - San Juan Ave like you have been for the Sunset office, but instead of turning left at Sunset, keep going straight 3 more lights to Fair Oaks Blvd and turn left.  Go down 2 lights to New York Ave, go through the intersection, and immediately turn into the turn lane once the center divider ends.  We are on the left.
We are looking forward to seeing all of you at our new location.

Take care,

David

We are Moving!
Our projected Date for moving will be the last weekend in October if all goes well.  The new address will be 9725 Fair Oaks Blvd.

New Exercise Program
Patients are reporting great results with the new back strengthening program I wrote about in the March 18th newsletter.  I highly recommend this program for everyone as we all need stronger backs to counter the effects of too much sitting.  If you missed this information here is a link to that newsletter.

Caffeine may block brain inflammation to reduce dementia risk

After being the bad boy on the block for so long because of its role in increasing stress, caffeine is now showing it has a good guy side.  Caffeine appears to block the activity of a particular brain signaling chemical that tells the brain to go into an inflammatory state.  Brain degeneration starts with inflammation so anything that turns down brain inflammation is a good thing.  Not everyone can do caffeine - people are all different in what they can tolerate, but those who can have this benefit to look forward to.

Silicon-rich mineral water backed for Alzheimer's benefits

Aluminum has been associated with Alzheimer's disease for a long time.  It triggers the brain to form tangles and plaque that stop normal function in the brain.  Until now I had not heard any way to decrease the aluminum levels in the brain, so the focus has been on avoiding any sources of aluminum getting into the body - such as anti-perspirants, cookware, toothpaste, vaccines, and so on.  But this recent study has found that the silica dissolved in many natural mineral waters pushes the aluminum out of the brain.  Study participants drank 1 liter of mineral water a day for 12 weeks.  Over that time aluminum was found to be dumped out through the kidneys, and over half of the study participants halted their cognitive decline.  One fifth even showed significant clinical improvement.
