Happiness Issue

Hi ,

     Welcome to the mid-September issue of my newsletter.  Has anybody noticed the Christmas decoration displays out already?  Whoa, I wasn't ready for that one.  I might start keeping my eye out for presents in October and November, but worrying about Santa Claus lawn decorations the day after Labor Day is pushing things just a bit for me.

     Just a heads up, the office will be closed Thursday and Friday the 25th and 26th as I will be on safari celebrating my birthday.  My thanks to Jane, who suggested the idea of going to Safari West in Napa.  And my thanks to Cynthia for all the great restaurant recommendations.  Ellen and I will be spending two nights in tents amidst free roaming African wildlife.  What a kick!  We will be open Wednesday the 24th to help cover patient needs.  After my birthday I am going to start making Wednesdays into Gracework Days.

     As some of you know, I have been creating a powerful personal growth system called Gracework for many years now.  Three months ago I ran a study to measure the impact of Gracework on a group of my patients to see if it would raise their happiness level .  Twelve patients volunteered to receive Gracework two times a week for four weeks and to take a whole battery of tests before and after the treatments.  I used a number of standardized tests that measure psychological health as well as physical health.  Improvement in authentic happiness and attitude increased 7.2 to 8.4% in only four weeks.  Average improvements ranged from 3% to 17%.

     Typical comments were:
"I have a more positive response to the world impacting home and work."
"I have been able to more readily ask for what I want."
"I am better able to deal with stressful situations."
"I have greater trust in my feelings and decisions."
"It improved my ability to clearly speak my thoughts, especially to family."
"I am more confident."

     Gracework is about building better relationships and skills for participating with life.  As we create new, more effective ways of relating to life, our stress decreases.  We get happier.  This is reason enough to do Gracework, but the real surprise of the study was the results of the physical symptom surveys.  The survey rated 100 different common symptoms the patients may have experienced over the last 7 days.  At the end of the 4 weeks the same symptoms were rated once again.  There was an astounding 38% improvement in physical symptoms just from doing Gracework.  This demonstrates the profound effect of Gracework on the subconscious stress based causes of disease.

      I designed Gracework to impact primarily the energetic and subconscious levels of the person, but had no idea it would be that effective that fast.  I was pleased with the positive changes on the conscious level, because with almost 40 years of experience in the personal growth field, I know how hard it is to make real change.  It re-affirms my belief in the power of letting the patient's body lead the way in growth and healing.  Only your body knows what you need and the path you need to follow.  My job is to read and then respond in support to the wisdom, the innate intelligence of your body.

     I have been around the growth arena for a long time and have been trained in dozens of healing techniques.  Even my undergraduate degree was one I designed at UC Davis in the Psychology of Learning.  Gracework is my syntheses of the best of all I have learned, combined with my personal insights, gifts of spirit, and my new research in the areas of learning and consciousness.  I am now ready to offer this growth and healing technique to you.  I am setting aside Wednesdays just to do Gracework on all of you that want to take the next step forward in your lives.  It is about becoming happier.

     Come on over and give Gracework a try.  To introduce everyone to this new and amazing process I am making the first visit free.  Normally visits are only $36 and I offer a baker's dozen - 1 free with each dozen visits purchased in advance.  But for all of you in the newsletter family, just mention this article and receive Gracework for only $33 a visit.  Based on experience, coming in for Gracework once a week works nicely to build a good base of skills for engaging life in an a dynamic new way.  Take charge of your life.  Acquire the feeling skills to build the life you want.

Each visit includes a:

Diagnosis of the subconscious tension pattern you have influencing your feelings that day
Locating the specific feeling goals to lift you out of the tension conflict
Energetic alignment with each of the new skills you will need
Raising your tone and energy to match the new functional skill set
Cranial tapping process to train the new skills into the subconscious
Specific action plan to build the new skills in the real world
Feeling affirmation to keep you centered and on task.

Positive Psychology:
The Science of Happiness

This is an excellent video and article about research into happiness that demonstrates that we do have a lot of potential control over our level of happiness.  Only 10% of our happiness is due to our life circumstances.  40% is due to our life skills.  Watch the video to learn more.

The Keys to Happiness,
and Why We Don't Use Them

This is a good article that points out a sad but true reality, that being happy requires effort.  It has many payoffs, but our default state is unhappiness because it takes less effort to be unhappy than it does to be happy.  Happiness requires you to develop personality skills and practice them daily.

The Way to Happiness

    This Readers Digest article on the subject of happiness really covers the bases on the current thinking in the field of happiness research.  I also provides 10 good happiness building strategies anyone can use.  For myself however, happiness is a feedback reward for living a meaningful life.  As such I find that achieving real happiness requires a very individual and personal approach.  We are all different.  We were designed different for a reason and our job is to unfold that uniqueness and make it a gift to the world.  This gives meaning to our lives.  That is why I have spent so many years trying to figure out how to work with the uniqueness of each person.  Cookie cutter techniques miss the most important part of unfoldment - you the individual.  Only you - your inner blueprint - can guide you to your greatest happiness.  This is what Wednesdays will be all about at the office very soon.

  Crunchy Fresh
Vegetable Salad

    *1 cup Rice Vinegar                * 1 cup Water
    * 1/2 - 1cup  Sugar/ honey
    * 2 teaspoons Stevia
    * 2-3 tablespoons Fish
           Sauce
     Sliced vegetables of your choice like colored peppers, cucumber, red onions, zucchini, carrots, cauliflower, cabbage, most anything crunchy.

1. Mix the ingredients  in a large bowl that you can put a lid on.  The vegetables should just be covered by the liquid.

2. Let the mixture sit in the refrigerator for several days.

3. Serve as a salad or garnish at any meal.

I am not fond of straight vegetables so I am always trying out new ways to make them more palatable.  The use of Thai Fish Sauce mixed with the sweet and sour taste of the vinegar / sugar mixture makes both a great taste and a way to preserve the vegetables in their crunchy state for some time.
